Vertical Pellet Mill
Vertical Pellet Mill Overview
The vertical pellet mill is a type of pelletizing equipment widely utilized in the fields of biomass pellet processing. Unlike conventional pellet mills, the die in a vertical biomass pellet mill is positioned horizontally, with the main drive shaft oriented perpendicular to the die.
Furthermore, material feeds naturally into the compression chamber via gravity. This design makes it particularly well-suited for processing biomass fibers—such as sawdust, straw, rice husks, and hay—that are lightweight in texture and present greater challenges in terms of pellet formation.
Richi Manufacture currently offers various models of vertical pellet mills with production capacities ranging from 1 to 10 tons per hour. If you are looking to efficiently launch a biomass pelleting business, please feel free to contact us; we will provide you with a detailed solution tailored to your needs.
Technical Features of RICHI Vertical Pellet Mill
The vertical pellet mill features a unique vertical ring-die structural design. Its core components primarily comprise the die and press roller assembly, the transmission system (including the gearbox, main shaft, and bearings), the automatic lubrication system, the feeder and cooling system. The design and manufacturing quality of these core components ultimately determine the vertical biomass pellet mill’s ability to achieve high output, low energy consumption, and a long service life.

01
Gear Drive System
Our vertical ring die pellet mill features a high-precision gearbox that delivers powerful torque for the pelletizing process, offering superior load-bearing capacity and smoother operation. The gears undergo a carburizing and quenching treatment to ensure exceptional wear resistance.

02
Ring Die and Roller Assembly
In the vertical pellet mill, the ring die is positioned horizontally and remains stationary. Pressure rollers rotate within the ring die to compress and shape the material. Both the ring die and the pressure rollers are constructed from hard alloy steel, ensuring a long service life and achieving a pellet formation rate of up to 98%.

03
VFD Feeder
The vertical biomass pellet mill employs a vertical feeding mechanism, allowing material to drop directly from the top-mounted feeder into the pelletizing chamber, thereby preventing bridging. The feeder is equipped with variable frequency speed control, enabling automatic adjustment of the feed rate to prevent blockages.

04
Siemens Main Motor
Our vertical pellet mill is equipped with a Siemens motor, delivering powerful performance, smooth operation, and high energy efficiency. The motor is vertically mounted on the pellet mill, thereby saving space.

05
Cooling System
Our vertical ring die pellet mill is equipped with a fan to accelerate heat dissipation and waste discharge. Besides, the vertical biomass pellet mill features an open-top design, allowing the heat generated during compression to dissipate naturally and preventing the machine’s interior from overheating.

06
Lubrication System
The vertical wood pellet mill comes with a thin-oil circulation lubrication system, which provides lubrication for both the reducer and the main shaft bearing chamber, thereby extending the service life of these core components. Furthermore, it serves the dual function of providing cooling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below is a compilation of frequently asked questions from customers regarding the purchase of a vertical pellet mill. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Click here to know more about RICHI.
–
How many tons per hour can a vertical pellet mill produce? What is its power consumption?
The vertical pellet mills we currently offer have a production capacity ranging from 1 to 10 tons per hour. If you require a vertical ring die pellet mill with a higher capacity, please contact us for a custom solution. Additionally, regarding electricity consumption, since different equipment models have varying power ratings, we can provide you with an energy consumption estimate tailored to your specific circumstances.
–
Does your vertical pellet mill have specific requirements regarding the type of raw materials or their moisture content?
Our vertical pellet mill offers exceptional versatility regarding raw materials; it is capable of processing virtually all types of biomass—including crop stalks, forage grass, rice husks, fruit pomace, wood chips, and more. However, to ensure optimal pelletizing results, the moisture content of the raw materials must not exceed 15% before being fed into the vertical wood pellet mill.
–
Does your vertical pellet mill have any requirements regarding raw material size?
The particle size of the raw materials fed into the vertical wood pellet mill should ideally not exceed 3–5 mm. If your raw materials are too large, we can provide a crusher.
–
What materials are the die and pressure rollers of a vertical wood pellet mill made of?
The die and pressure rollers of the vertical wood pellet mill are constructed from high-quality alloy steel; having undergone integral carburization heat treatment, they possess wear resistance that is twice that of ordinary ring dies.
–
Can the vertical pellet mill operate continuously for 24 hours? Does the machine feature a heat dissipation design?
Our vertical pellet mill features a gear-driven system powered by a Siemens motor, offering high load-bearing capacity, stable operation, and low energy consumption, while supporting continuous production. Furthermore, the vertical biomass pellet mill comes with an automatic lubrication system and a circulating thin-oil cooling system, ensuring stable and reliable operation over extended periods.
