What Is a Shrimp Feed Pellet Machine?
A shrimp feed pellet machine is a specialized feed processing machine designed to produce sinking or slow-sinking shrimp feed pellets with high water stability and high protein formulation adaptability.
RICHI shrimp feed pellet machine uses controlled conditioning and mechanical compression to form dense, durable sinking pellets.
- Water stability >12 hours – Special press roller configuration for better binding
- Micro-pellets (1-3 mm) – Precision die technology
- High density for slow sinking – Controlled by conditioning and extrusion parameters
- Adjustable compression ratio ring die:ideal for aquafeed, and even livestock, poultry feed

Why Shrimp Feed Needs Specialized Pellet Machine?
As a benthic animal, shrimp requires slow-sinking feed with excellent water stability and small particle size for easy ingestion. Shrimp feed also features high protein and high oil content, which brings great challenges to feed production.
To produce high-quality shrimp feed, a specialized shrimp feed pellet machine is a must. It is equipped with small-bore, high-compression ring die to ensure dense pellets; advanced conditioning system for full starch gelatinization; and stable processing capacity for high-protein, high-oil materials to avoid blockage and downtime.
RICHI shrimp feed pellet machine is specially designed to perfectly meet all these challenges.

How A Shrimp Feed Pellet Machine Works
The working principle of a shrimp feed pellet machine mainly relies on conditioning and physical extrusion to compress powdered feed materials into pellets.
The process is as follows:
First, the mixed powdered materials are evenly fed into the conditioner through the feeding hopper. Then high-temperature steam is introduced into the conditioner and fully mixed with the powder, which gelatinizes and matures the starch, improving feed digestibility and binding performance, while also achieving sterilization.
Next, the conditioned materials enter the pelletizing chamber. Under the high-speed and strong extrusion between the ring die and press rollers, the materials are forced out through the die holes, and quickly cut into the required pellet length by the cutting knife.
Finally, the pellets are cooled in the cooler to harden them, facilitating subsequent screening and packaging.

Versatile Applications of Shrimp Feed Pellet Machine
A professional, high-performance shrimp feed pellet machine can handle almost all raw materials needed for complete shrimp feed with ease. It achieves this thanks to its strong adaptability, precise control system and advanced mechanical design. By adjusting conditioning temperature, moisture and ring die compression ratio for different shrimp feed formulas, it stably and efficiently produces high-quality aquafeed pellets. These pellets feature high water stability and a low percentage of fines.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some questions you may have when you purchasing a shrimp feed pellet machine. If you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact us. Click here to learn more about RICHI and our service.
–
How many tons of shrimp feed can your shrimp feed pellet machine produce per hour? My farm needs 5,000 tons per year. Which model should I choose?
Our shrimp feed pellet machines come in various series with hourly outputs ranging from 0.3 ton to 15 tons. For your annual requirement of 5,000 tons (based on 10 hours/day, 300 days/year, requiring approximately 1.5-2 tons/hour), I recommend our SZLH 350 or 420 shrimp feed making machine. It meets your current needs and has a 20% buffer for peak season expansion. We can provide detailed factory layout drawings based on your available space.
–
How long can your pellets hold their shape in water? Can they last for 2 hours?
Our shrimp feed pellet machine is equipped with a three-layer extended conditioner, ensuring the starch is fully gelatinized (up to 90%+ maturity). Under standard formulas, our shrimp feed pellets achieve water stability for 12 hours. This guarantees shrimp can consume complete nutrients while minimizing water pollution.
–
Can your shrimp feed pellet mill produce small-diameter pellets uniformly?
Absolutely. RICHI shrimp feed pellet mills are designed for the high precision required in aquaculture:
- Minimum Die Size: Standard dies go down to 1 mm, ideal for shrimp starter feed.
- Cutting System: We feature a multi-blade cutter system, allowing pellet length to be precisely controlled (typically 1-1.5 times the diameter) with minimal fines.
- Customization: For the specific sizes you mentioned, we can supply tailored high-alloy steel dies with the exact hole diameters you need.
–
My formula contains a lot of soybean meal, rapeseed meal, cottonseed meal, and oil. Can your shrimp feed pellet machine handle these? Is it prone to blocking?
This is where our shrimp feed pellet mill excels. To handle high ratios of unconventional ingredients (like high fiber or oil), we use larger diameter rollers and thicker ring dies, coupled with a variable frequency speed control feeder. If raw material viscosity varies, you can adjust the feed rate and conditioning temperature in real-time. This prevents blockages and ensures a pelletizing rate above 98%.
–
What is the service life of easily worn parts such as ring dies and press rollers? Are spare parts available?
We use ring dies made of high-quality alloy steel (42CrMo) with carburizing treatment. Under normal shrimp feed production (without excessive sand or abrasive materials), one die can last over 1000 hours (depending on the feed’s corrosiveness). Commonly used models are always in stock to prevent production delays.
–
Is this shrimp feed pellet machine complicated to operate? How many people are needed?
It is very user-friendly. We include a PLC control system as standard, featuring one-button start, automatic lubrication, and self-diagnostic functions. Under normal conditions, one person can monitor 2-3 pellet mills simultaneously.
–
What after-sales services do you offer?
RICHI Machinery offers a 12-month warranty for our shrimp feed pellet machines. In addition, we offer free on-site installation and commissioning, on-site operator training, and a free annual inspection to ensure worry-free use. (View our YouTube)
